Africas Group (Grupo \u00c1fricas) brings together researchers interested in being involved in debates about the continent of Africa, through the correlations between History, Literature and Anthropology. Our goals are: (a) To construct a space of reference in African studies in both Rio de Janeiro and Brazil. (b) To be a space that promotes research and outreach projects focused on the training of primary school teachers, researchers and those interested in the subject. \u00a9 To promote the foundations of an antiracist education, through the circulation of knowledge grounded on the recognition of cultures, peoples, languages, and stories from the African continent in primary education.<\/p>

We have fortnightly online meetings to debate research projects and academic texts of the group and authors who are references in the field. Furthermore, we organise the Africas Seminar, with the objective of socialising our research to a broader public and publish eBooks through our own publisher \u2013 Edi\u00e7\u00f5es Africas. Participation in the group is open to all.<\/span><\/p><\/div>

The Theory of History Studies Community (COMUM) was created in 2016, within Rio de Janeiro\u2019s state university (UERJ), with the objective of promoting studies and research about the practices and experiences in academic and non-academic spaces within the fields of Theory of History and History of Historiography, conciliating a network of dialogue comprising of researchers and students of both Brazilian and foreign institutions.<\/p>

Not only does COMUM offer a space for exchange and interaction, but also develops intervention projects and actions in several spheres. It is through these experiences that it is possible to think about the direction of world historiography.<\/p>

The group is registered in the Research Group Directory (DGP) of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, Brazil) and works with three key lines of research: \u201cThe Historical Discipline in Debate\u201d, \u201cDemocracy, Culture and Historic Experience\u201d, and \u201cTeaching History, possibilities and obstacles\u201d.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

O\u00a0Plexo –\u00a0<\/a>Grupo de Trabalho em Perplexidades: estudos interdisciplinares, interinstitucionais e internacionais, coordenador pela profa.dra Beatriz de Moraes Vieira,\u00a0\u00a0concentra-se na investiga\u00e7\u00e3o da “perplexidade” como uma forma de conhecimento, explorada em contextos liter\u00e1rios, visuais, jornal\u00edsticos e acad\u00eamicos ligados a situa\u00e7\u00f5es de viol\u00eancia do Estado, viola\u00e7\u00f5es de direitos humanos e vulnerabilidade social. A pesquisa se dedica a obras criativas de momentos hist\u00f3ricos contempor\u00e2neos marcados por “cat\u00e1strofes” e “estados de exce\u00e7\u00e3o”, como ditaduras e crises democr\u00e1ticas e socioambientais na Am\u00e9rica Latina e Europa. O n\u00facleo re\u00fane pesquisadores\/professores\u00a0 do Brasil, Chile, Argentina e Espanha que investigam\u00a0como o termo “perplexidade” tem sido usado e recebido ao longo do tempo, e sua relev\u00e2ncia para a compreens\u00e3o da hist\u00f3ria e das sociedades contempor\u00e2neas. Organizada em\u00a0\u00a0tr\u00eas\u00a0linhas de pesquisa \u2013 Teoria da Hist\u00f3ria em Perspectiva Interdisciplinar, Teoria Liter\u00e1ria e Estudos Culturais, Filosofia e Teoria Pol\u00edtica \u2013\u00a0a\u00a0proposta levanta a hip\u00f3tese de que a perplexidade pode ser entendida como um \u201cn\u00e3o-conceito\u201d aberto, conforme sugerido por Adorno, que considera a realidade concreta como uma base essencial para a din\u00e2mica afetivo-cognitiva das “escritas de perplexidade”. Trata-se de um trabalho essencial no atual cen\u00e1rio educacional e cultural, marcado por leituras dogm\u00e1ticas e dificuldades de interpreta\u00e7\u00e3o de figuras ret\u00f3ricas, o que tem implica\u00e7\u00f5es s\u00e9rias nas intera\u00e7\u00f5es sociais e pol\u00edticas globais. Assim, a pesquisa busca investigar o potencial cognitivo da perplexidade na promo\u00e7\u00e3o de novas formas de cidadania cr\u00edtica.\u00a0 A metodologia \u00e9 qualitativa, bibliogr\u00e1fica e criativa, com um enfoque interdisciplinar que se baseia especialmente na Teoria Cr\u00edtica para pensar a negatividade filos\u00f3fica e a capacidade transfiguradora da arte. The Study of Social Differences and Inequalities Lab, created in 2001, has a transdisciplinary character, proposing to analyse the historically produced diacritic traits that shape difference and inequality. Especially, those related to status, for instance, position in the labour market, gender, generation, ethnic and racial status, and also, linguistic, regional and national status, among others, that not only distinguish, but hierarchize, subordinate, oppose and exclude people and groups, directing and producing behaviour. It is understood that taxonomies aren\u2019t neutral and are experienced within a correlation of knowledge and power in the construction of their subjectivities. status,<\/em>\u00a0de ocupa\u00e7\u00e3o no mercado de trabalho, de g\u00eanero, de gera\u00e7\u00e3o, as \u00e9tnicas e as raciais, assim como as lingu\u00edsticas, as regionais e nacionais, entre outras, que n\u00e3o apenas distinguem, mas hierarquizam, subordinam, op\u00f5em e excluem pessoas e grupos, direcionando e produzindo condutas. Entende que as taxonomias n\u00e3o s\u00e3o neutras, encontrando-se na rela\u00e7\u00e3o saber-poder em suas constru\u00e7\u00f5es de subjetividades.<\/p>

LEDDES is, therefore, ethically focused on the questioning of social difference and inequality affirming the importance of treating people equally in all institutional spheres and situations that affect their opportunities. With this in mind, we propose a historiographic exercise which is always interacting with the diversified agenda of movements and groups that make up society, establishing a dialogue with other spaces of knowledge, whether academic or not. The Laboratory of Studies on Immigration and Foreigners, founded by Len\u00e1 Medeiros de Menezes, and currently coordinated by \u00c9rica Sarmiento, brings together researchers from various institutions, dedicated to the study of migratory movements that occurred in the 19th and 20th Centuries, with an emphasis on emigration to Brazil. The official association of these researchers is mainly through the Research Group (Grpesq\/Cnpq\/UERJ) \u201cPortuguese Diaspora and Lusophone World\u201d, directed by the coordinator of LABIME, having as its members, professors, graduates, and undergraduates from different higher education institutions.<\/p>

In the broad context of e(im)migration, our focus has been the study of French and Portuguese immigration to Brazil. In the first case, the national and international recognition of the work carried out by laboratory\u2019s researchers can be shown by the invitation to be involved, and participation of three of its researchers in a collection about the French in Brazil. In relation to Portuguese immigration, the laboratory is involved in the pool of universities (UERJ, UFF, USP, PUC-SP), National, State and Local archive (Rio de Janeiro), that have focused on the creation of a portal about Portuguese emigration, a task coordinated, in Portugal, by the Centre of Studies on Population, Economy and Society (CEPESE), connected to the University of Porto.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Centre for American Studies, created in 2002, is a space that hopes to promote and provide research, teaching and debate of the issues that involve the American continent and the world. The Power Networks and Cultural Relations Labo brings together professors and students that participate in the Research group \u201cIdeals, culture and politics in the formation of Brazilian nationality\u201d, registered in the CNPq, and in operation since 1997. Its objects of investigation are situated in the field of New Political History and are defined around the notion of political culture and the dimension of symbolic power. The Power Networks and Cultural Relations Laboratory has an interinstitutional profile. The lab includes PPGH\/UERJ teaching staff and students, and includes researchers associated with a range of institutions: UFMG, National Library, UFOP, UNESP\/Fran\u00e7a, Historic Archive of Itamaraty, MAST, CPDOC and the Royal Portuguese Cabinet of Reading. It also has partnerships with the Centre of Cultural History of the Universidade Nova in Lisbon, the Institute of Brazilian Studies at the University of Coimbra, and the Network of Research of Intellectual History in Latin America, coordinated by Hugo Caninco Troncoso (University of Aarhus, Denmark) and Carmen de Sierra (University of Salto\/Uruguay and IHEAL\/France). Currently, two analytical focal points guide the studies and activities of the Laboratory: 1. Culture, intellectuals, and power. Aim: promote studies that analyse the relation between intellectuals and power, through their cultural expression and political practices. 2. History, culture, and international relations. Founded in August 1998, the Centre of Ancient History is part of the History Department, Institut of Philosophy and Humam Sciences of UERJ.<\/p>

A centre of Historic research that brings together researchers from different areas in Ancient History, it aims to establish dialogue and interaction between universities that carry out research in ancient societies, in order to demonstrate the effective possibility of carrying out studies about Ancient History in Brazil, as well as to reaffirm the commitment to the democratisation of knowledge produced in the academic environment.<\/p>

Its members are students and professors of Ancient History at UERJ interested in discussing with other areas of knowledge such as Languages and Linguistics, Philosophy, Archaeology, Anthropology, and the History of Art seeking to produce research about ancient societies.<\/p>

The collective project hopes to promote the interaction between professors and students, UERJ researchers and volunteers from public and private higher education institutions.<\/p>

NEA is part of the directory group of research of the National Council for Scientific and Technological Development (CNPq, Brazil)<\/p>

O N\u00facleo de Estudos de Hist\u00f3ria da Moda e da Indument\u00e1ria (NEHMI) foi fundado em 2023 na Universidade do Estado do Rio de Janeiro e re\u00fane representantes de diversas institui\u00e7\u00f5es do Brasil e do exterior. Embora o enfoque seja o hist\u00f3rico, o NEHMI tem car\u00e1ter interdisciplinar, incorporando pesquisadores, pesquisadoras e estudantes de diferentes \u00e1reas do conhecimento, mas que t\u00eam em comum o tema da moda e da indument\u00e1ria.<\/p>

O n\u00facleo encontra-se cadastrado desde 2024 no Diret\u00f3rio de Grupos de Pesquisa do CNPq, dividindo-se em tr\u00eas linhas. S\u00e3o elas: 1.\u00a0A moda na constru\u00e7\u00e3o do mundo social: consumo, g\u00eanero e sociabilidades; 2.\u00a0A indument\u00e1ria no mundo das artes: reflex\u00f5es sobre figurino, literatura e imagens; 3. Indument\u00e1ria em uma perspectiva decolonial: trajes e adornos de afrodescendentes e dos povos origin\u00e1rios. Como se pode perceber por suas linhas, os estudos abarcados pelo NEHMI analisam aspectos sociais, culturais, econ\u00f4micos e pol\u00edticos atrav\u00e9s da moda e da indument\u00e1ria.<\/p>

Para al\u00e9m da pesquisa propriamente dita, o n\u00facleo tamb\u00e9m incorpora a faceta de extens\u00e3o. Nela s\u00e3o desenvolvidas atividades de divulga\u00e7\u00e3o cient\u00edfica dos estudos na \u00e1rea de moda e indument\u00e1ria atrav\u00e9s de redes sociais, al\u00e9m de a\u00e7\u00f5es no campo do ensino atreladas ao tema. \u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t

The Centre for Studies on Biography, History, Teaching and Subjectivities (NUBHES) works within UERJ\u2019s Institute of Philosophy, History and Humanities, and stemmed from the project \u201cStories of geniuses and heroes: individual and nation in the biographical narratives of the Empire of Brazil\u201d [19th Century Brazil], receiving an award in the Young Scientist of our State Programme, in 2010. In the context of the growing reflection about the uses and meanings of biographies among historical cultural productions, nowadays, in discussions that reassess intersections between historiography, literary theory, sociological thinking, history of literature, as philosophy of subjectivity, the creation of NUBHES seeks to create a place which stimulates exchange and academic production related to the diverse topics that surround life histories. The correlation between the growing value of these, in their diverse mediatic appropriations, and, that which scholars of the phenomenon identify as dilemmas in contemporary subjectivity, will be a focus of the centre.
